New Reaction Discovery

I am broadly interested in new reaction platforms that convert industrial byproducts or biomolecules into value-added molecules or potential therapeutics

Photoredox Catalysis

Photoredox catalysis is a reaction platform that harnesses the use of light energy for single-electron redox changes to induce new chemical reactivity.

I am interested in discovering new molecular motifs that proceed via one-electron pathways, new catalysts that harness broad spectrums of light for redox activation, and new applications of photoredox catalysis outside organic synthesis.

New Mechanisms for Photocatalysis

The renaissance of photochemistry is tied to technological advances and a deeper mechanistic understanding of molecular perturbation by light.

I am interested in developing organic transformations that will use new photocatalytic mechanisms that involve the conversion of multiple photons into chemical energy or through photocatalysis involving two-electron mechanisms.

Applications of Radiochemistry

The synergistic relationship between radiochemistry and synthetic chemistry is found in the development of new tracers molecules for positron emission tomography — a medical imaging tool used for in vivo spatiotemporal visualization of disease and metabolism .

I am interested in developing new synthetic methods for tracers bearing F-18 and C-11 isotopes and their applications towards early-stage disease diagnosis and the study of biological systems.
